Gaston County Upcoming Events

Hello Everyone,

I pray that your day is going well.  Please forgive the long delay but I need to share information pertaining to two important upcoming events for the youth of Gaston County.  The first will be the Highland School of Technology (HST) lottery selection process for rising 9th grade students.  The information for this event is as follows:

Highland School of Technology (HST) Application, Lottery and Parent Information 

1.  February 18 – HST Open House, 5:30-7:00 p.m. Opportunity for parents to learn about HST.
2.  February 28 – Date application to attend HST must be delivered, faxed or postmarked.
3.  March 14 – Lottery held at HST Auditorium, 4:00 p.m. 
The next event will be Gaston County Schools' (GCS) Second Annual College Expo.  Information for this event is as follows:

Gaston County Schools (GCS) Second Annual College Expo

The second annual GCS College Expo is scheduled for Saturday, March 16 from
9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Gastonia Conference Center in downtown Gastonia. The event will provide
information on financial aid, planning for college financing, accessing applications electronically,
scholarships, college websites, athletic eligibility including NCAA regulations, SAT and ACT tips,
writing resumes, essays and letters of recommendation for college, preparing for college interviews,
military enlistment, and other topics. Parents and students are encouraged to attend – admission is free.

For parents of children who are rising 9th grade or current high school students please take advantage of each of these upcoming events.
